This Hormone is the Reason Why You Can’t Lose Weight

If losing weight has become some sort of a struggle for you and it seems your diet or work out is not yielding the much awaited results, then leptin may be what you need to handle quickly. Leptin is a hormone that is secreted by your cells and its main job is to balance your body weight and energy levels. There are two ways leptin performs its function. The first is by signaling to your brain when it is time to stop eating and secondly, it stimulates fatty tissue to burn energy

Your body releases more and more leptin into your blood stream as you grow fatter in other to create a balance by stimulating fatty tissue to burn excess fat. However, sometime it would seem as if leptin is malfunction. More accurately, the bodies of many overweight people have developed what we call leptin resistance.

The Meaning of Leptin Resistance and How It Happens
After a long period of high leptin levels, some people’s body loses sensitivity to leptin. This means the brain does not listen when leptin tells it to stop eating or to hasten metabolism.

This makes losing weight and maintaining healthy rate of metabolism very difficult. Leptin resistance makes its sufferer prone to chronic illnesses by causing for excess stomach fat and increased inflammation.

Crash diets could also be the reason you may have developed leptin resistance. Some people make the mistake of reducing their calorie intake drastically because they want to lose weight fast. But this often becomes a problem it makes leptin respond by telling the brain it needs more food.

This Is why it is probably a good idea to avoid these crash diets because they mostly fail to deliver cause they take the wrong approach to weight loss.
